Dear all,
I want to share my personal experience with you all hoping that you would take extra precaution before choosing this ETIHAD AIRWAYS, specially, if you have small/infant kids.
When I had my wife, 2 year-old-son and 3 month old daughther flew to Kathmandu from JFK via Abu Dhabi to Kathmandu, I chose Etihad Airlines primarily for the reason, it was the shortest route to go to Nepal ( 22 hours with transit ) even though it is more expensive than other airlines.
When I bought the ticket, I paid 100% for wife, 80% for my 2 year old son and 20% for my 3 month old baby. Once my wife boarded the plane with kids in JFK, the airlines told her that they DON'T HAVE A BABY basket for the baby and she had to carry her in her lap for 12:30 HOURS to Abu Dhabi EVEN THOUGH  THE BABY's fare was PAID. Mind you, they didn't even bother to mention this until she boarded the plane even when she was given the boarding pass. My wife tried to argue and beg with them to search for alternative, but they would not buzz and they said they can't do anything. She had to carry the baby for 12:30 hours till they reach Abu Dhabi.
This is the kind of service they provide and I am just shocked and angry when my wife told me this story over the phone from kathmandu.
BEWARE of  ETIHAD AIRLINES Guys!! Hope this would not happen to you!
Thanks.

You many want to write down a letter to their head office and fax it. Make photocopies of the boarding pass if you can and fax it as well. Normally they are supposed to give you some kind of compensation. I have a very bad expericence with Cathy Pacific airways and I was given some money back. Good Luck

I had a very bad experience with Etihad airways too. But it was back in Kathmandu itself when i was boarding the plane from Ktm-Abu-JFK. The staffs do not even know how to talk with their passengers. The counter staffs were good enough but one of the higher level staff was an asshole. I forgot his name (he's a short little plump guy, if anyone can rem'em, he keeps on popping up at the counter). I was already more than pissed off to even take down his name and submit a written complain against him. Even though probably he may have some qualifications he was just weird. I rem'em he kept on saying "i'm the boss", "things go as i say". I don wanna write down about the issue here. Etihad simply sucks! Transit at Abu Dhabi is a CHAOS!!!!!!! I know my next flight back will not be Etihad airways.

I had similar experience with gulf air.  Gulf air says it is one of the most kid’s friendly airlines in the world with its sky nanny service and all but won't even allow carrying a stroller.  We had to check in the stroller and when you have 7 hours transit like we had with two years old, without a stroller it is no fun.  Be aware with all these Middle East airlines.  They all suck…
