Hello guys, I need a help. i want to apply for MBA program in moderate school where 500 GMAT and one year of work experience is enough to get into the program. My undergrad GPA is not bad, its about 3.46 from nepal. could you guys suggest me some schools where admission is not too tough and possibility of financial aid in form of TA/RA. I would not want to go for very expensive school either. your suggestion will be appreciated. thanks.

What is your undergrad GPA? You only say you have a 500 in GMAT and looking for a TA/RA/GA position?? This is highly unlikely (even in moderate schools)...Have to let you know that with that GMAT score, Consider yourself lucky if you do get accepted without financial aid/scholoarships even into a mediocre program.

hey Number, There are many schools that take u for masters without GMAT if u have scored above 3.00gpa. what was ur major in undergrad. If it was related to business then u may get direct enrollment to MBA else u'll have to take some prerequisite classes. University of North Alabama is one of them. but u do not get any financial aid here. good luck.

You get 3.46 g.p.a and only 500 in GMAT. I strongly advise you not to do the mba and find something else. One of the scores tells the story. Esp if you are thinking of having a career in management.

Number, my bad...didn't read your earlier post thoroughly. All the best in your pursuit of happiness. To be blunt, I myself doubt you stand a chance at any top-tier institution with your scores but you could change it through the way your personal statement could be made to reflect all your achievements and the unique quality/diversity you could add to the school. A ray of hope here: I read somewhere a few years ago that though the GMAT(or any standardized test) is a requirement, most accredited universities in California tend to shift their focus (not completely) from grades obtained in any standardized tests and scrutinize more on the other requirements: GPA, personal statements, publications, etc.

I guess you guys did not read my post carefully. I clearly said that my gpa is 3.46 and i am not seeking admission at top 50 business schools. I also know there are quite a few schools which do not require GMAT to get into MBA program and even 2.8 gpa will work for them. my point of asking you guys here on this forum is, if you guys know any schols or studied in such schools which are moderate in ranking and admission is not too tough. if getting aid is really tough, simply moderate schools in cost will do. thanks.

i am making more than some of the brightest ones i went to school with... most of the bright ones couldn't even make it to my field... .. i have a low gpa too but that never held me for anything.. so it means shytt to me.. after two years of related work experence, now it really means shytt to me and i'm ready to flush it down the toilet ... those who bragged about gpa had to migrate to canada cuz they couldn'tfind jobs in the usa... it's how you approach at things.. how agressive you're and how much luck favors you .. when i was in my undergrad years i too lost lots of nights sleeps worrying about gpa but now i think i shouldn't have.. i had a teaching assistant in EE , who was in probation and doing his masters not only that but he had a TA too... GPA helps only through college if you are begging for scholorships or grants.. after that it means shytt...

One of my Bulgarian friends got into ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY and UNIVERSITY OF OREGON in the MBA program with full tuition scholarship in addition to some assistanship. She also had a year of work experience (in some non-profit). Her GPA was around 3.9 (but from a third tier school). Not sure about GMAT scores. If you want to know more about what MBA programs she applied to and what extras she added to her application file, e-mail me and i can let u know.

Kalopani, "GPA don't mean shit" you say?? wtf? hahaha send us over a resume with a sub 3.0 and it goes straight to the garbage-bin, goddamnnit!! Agreed, once in the job you could care less which school you went to or what your GPA was as its all based on performance...However, you DO NEED THAT GPA TO GET IN, don't ya?? And damn, who're you trying to BS here, kid?? Unless you went to a non-accredited institution, the scenario you mentioned would've applied only then "i had a teaching assistant in EE , who was in probation and doing his masters not only that but he had a TA too." hahahah Any schools out there withdraw your grants and scholarships once you're in probation...And you're talking about a TA here (the ones who TEACH other kids...What a prime example they'd set). hahahaha BTW, which school was this?
