Minor child of US Citizen doesn't need sponsorship. Note: An individual listed above does not need to submit an affidavit of support if they can show that they EITHER: Already worked 40 qualifying quarters as defined in Title II of the Social Security Act Can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters as defined in Title II of the Social Security Act Are the child of a U.S. citizen and if admitted for permanent residence on or after February 27, 2001, would automatically acquire citizenship under Section 320 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended by the Child Citizenship Act of 2002 Source: Uscis.gov

Perhaps you acquired the citizenship after filing for your son and did not update your status with NVC

Happened with me. then I sent a letter from employer, sent the 6 months' bank statement, and copy of pay checks for six months. then no problem. Read the instruction of I-864 carefully. Then you should be fine.

You can add other person's income as well as the secondary sponsor.

How much did you file tax for last year 2015? Did you send the IRS trancript or your copy if 1040 filing? If you filed more than $25200 last year and you sent the transcript for the return, you should have been fine. If $ 31,000 is your anticipated income for 2016 and tou filed less than that, it could be the problem.

@solu123 : did you send those documents to NVC? or to interviewee in Nepal to show them at interview? I m not sure whether to send them to NVC or provide them to interviewee son to bevshown at interview. the email from NVC reflects somthing like, they will provide a date for interview sooner and the interviewer will need conformations abt the income or other co sponsor. (not sure about this, what I understood. even the M*F* lawyer seems to be in delima)

I think, my case was different than yours. They asked me to send W-2, a letter from employer, copy of 6 months paychecks, and 6 months bank statements to Lee Summit, MO. I was not called for an in-person interview.

Sorry,I think I am misunderstanding you. In my case, it was for sponsoring my wife for GC. You are doing for your son. I brought my wife here on fiance visa and got married here. After my case was approved at NVC, I had to send affidavit of support I-134 (not I864), to my wife, she then submitted the form to US embassy in KTM and scheduled for visa interview. After she arrived here in USA, we got married, and she applied for GC on the basis of k-visa. This time I had to file I-864.I did not read the instruction properly, and did not submit the required documents, and hence I got a letter stating that I do not meet poverty guidelines, and they asked me to submit all required documents such as W-2 etc to Lee Summit Mo. Once, I submitted, everything was fine.
