I am taking my American friend to Nepal. It would be his first time on that part of the world. He will be staying with me in Kathmandu. He is a photographer by hobby and wanted to take pictures of Nepal. He will be there for about a month. I am planning to take him to Pokhara, Nagarkot, Chitwan, Lumbini. He is picky about foods. Doesnot like spicy food. He has knee problem so hiking is not a good option for him. I will need some suggestions from you guys like where to take him for sight seeing, and any good restaurants around thamel where he can find american foods. Or anything else I should keep in mind.

One thing to make clear though. Dont just take him there saying its all beautiful and clean. You know even Nepalese returning to Nepal after few years gets overwhelmed by pollution , crowd, dysfunction of rules and regulations. So, show him the bad side as well so he can get prepared. I have heard similar case where someone took his American buddy to Nepal and after he returned he didnt speak to him because he was misled by the Nepalsese friend. He was mad that Nepal was so dirty and chaos. Also, I wouldn't stay in Kathmandu since pollution and overpopulation might make him frustrated and end up getting annoyed with you as well. Go to Annapurna Base Camp, trek for few days, stay in Pokhara, Chitwan. So, just be honest about pros and cons and let him figure out if he still is up for the ride.Good luck!

Ip Man ---- Nepal has a lot of place that offers continental dishes, Thamel ma Gaia bhanne thau cha, the food they serve is fresh. Nepali menu khaye ni huncha, just tell the person attending you guys to keep is less spicy.. tyo bahek roadhouse is nearby.. along with coffeepasal in durbarmag .. Breakfast is always good at Nanglo or the yellow house at sanepa ABC nagarnu it takes atleast 7-8 days of trek, as u said his knee hurts. but go to muktinath if you want to, the roads are crappy after jomsom but bike ma majjale jana paucha and you can hire those bike in thamel Pokhara is indeed beautiful, sarankot bata good range of himalayas dekhincha depending on the weather condition, while nagarkot and bandipur shares the range, thou the view is different. I personally liked Nagarkot, Also if you wanna hike - you can hike to nagarkot from kathmandu, takes a good 6 hrs one way but ppl are doing it. there are few restaurants that offers cultural shows, you can take him to one, else yak and yeti has those almost everyday for dinner- well had those not sure if they still have them now, you could check with them places to visit in ktm and nearby -bhaktapur, patan durbarsquare, basantapur, bouddha swayambhunath - remember most of these sites are destroyed by earthquake and are under renovation thou i believe patan meuseum is still open outside valley - bandipur - pokhara, chitwan and lumbini Short hike - poonhill - the view is lovely! before you guys head here.. please do tell him that we are still getting aftershocks, and about 3 heritage sites are down...

You want to take your friend to Nepal and want to feed him continental food? If he's open minded, adventurous, likes to discover different place and people then you don't have anything to worry about. I have taken many friends to Nepal and everyone of them enjoyed it. But they were Europeans, cultured and aware. May be your friend is an american red-neck. I don't know.
