Asylum means you are afraid to go back to your country because you will be persecuted. You obviously are not afraid to go back. How fast the threats to persons in the USA under asylum disappears once they get their papers.

@Nepali Lahure:
Don't be a diiiiiiiccccccccccccccccccccccccccckkkk bro. Just because you were rejected don't mean you have to come out to the ones that got through. BTW love for the country and patriotism is reflected in what you give back to your country and merely holding citizenship. You don't always have the opportunity to be proud of what you do-but sometimes thats how life rolls. I am not sure if your mom was proud when you were born- Ya i am playing the harsh game too!!! live and let live!!!!

@Nepali lahure:
If you want to stick to your patriotism theory - you should not have been let of the country at all- why are you here? What makes you any different from the ones that did apply for the "subject in matter". I never applied (well not yet) but i do know ppl who have done and gotten it through that way. Some of those folks were going through hell but life turned around once their paper was fixed- my point is, if the offer is in your plate why not do it unless you are not harming anybody. The living principle today is "if you don't someone else will" and it is applicable to most walks of life. I am a student and currently looking for a job and with the OPT window period i have and the fierce competition there is , i wudnt mind taking that option as my last stand.
I am so disgusted/saddened by people like you in Nepali Society here or back in Nepal. All you do is criticize,berate other fellow citizens and if somebody gets ahead in the race then the first thing in your mind is how do i let him/her down instead of working hard and being in the race too. See my point is - you have no clue why OP of this post had to follow the path he/she did- he/she may not have had an option- he/she may have had a family he/she needed to support and the gas station or some menial pay job don't cover the bills- possibilities are plenty. You don't have the right to make that comment that you had for him/her in the first place. You are right in your own world and he/she in his/her own ways. I don't need to know what you did or how did -don't just hurt other ppl. Truthfully I am a failure-We all are- We have all abandoned our country in one way or ther other and no, i don't need your dishonest good luck wishes- I am better off without it. Question yourself what have you done for the country (not for your pocket) and how are you any better than everybody else bfore you even think about questioning sb else on his/her love for the country?

It is possible that the original poster had a valid asylum case but i am sure he wants to go and visit his relatives now that things are quiet. Dont hate too much, it only shows how you were raised. HW2nepal if you are a US citizen you have full rights given to any US citizen including right to travel.

The thing is if you're not a genuine asylee, you can lie to any other people and the embassy, but you can't lie to yourself, the guilt remains in your psyche, given that you've any moral and decency.

Nepali Lahure. I think you're over reacting. You feel really proud by getting ur status through studies, right? However, only you probably know how much you had to suffer. When there was a talk of lay off..you must have been scared and all that. But the good thing is- you went through all than and now you're fine. By people taking their chances on either getting asylum or marriage or whatever the way- it is their choice and the demand as well as opportunity of their live that puts them in that situation. Of course, whatever right or wrong happens to them, it happens to them. They either get what they're looking for or not. But by them doing that- I don't think that it is going to harm Nepal.
Tell me honestly, you talk a lot about how PROUD you are in getting your shit together though ur studies..did you fake any papers when u came to the US, by the help of your parents? Of course you did. You don't have that damn $ bills to pay the lifestyle in the US. How about working illegal in US? Didn't you do that while u were student? You may say..oh that's done by everyone..thats nonsense! Well, any of the above is true..then you suck royally. Coz what you're saying PERSONALLY is that you find some bad things are right to do and some bad things are wrong to do. Well, if that is so then keep your thoughts to yourself! Just my thoughts. There is nothing wrong in applying for asylum or marraige, as long as it works out for the person who is applying. Otherwise, the same person has to go through years of pain and nobody wants to go through all that.
