Something to ask :-)
Study
----------------
- How is student life in Aus?
-How r the chances of getting RA n TA in Graduation? (while continuuing)
- Can student make good/decent life even after paying tuition fee?
- How is the pay?
- Off campus jobs? (and of course pay)
- Does Aus also have 5 years Ph D course like US (Masters+ Ph D)?
- Can student apply for work permit while studying?
- Generally how many hours r students allowed to work? (is it 20 hrs a week?)

After Study
----------

-How is job market?
- I heard every state has their own rules, can we apply jobs to any state we want?
- After completion of study, if visa expires, how much time students get to find job? (Like in Canada its one year)

Immigration
-------

-Are students eligible to apply?
- Generally, how long does it take for final decision?
- Can we directly apply for citizenship after getting PR
- How is Australain life?

Life
-------
-I heard weather is great, is that really so?
- Do they know anything more except CRICKET?
- Which cities r the best to live (jobs and life)?
- How big is Nepalese community?

Finally, How r the Ausies chicks :-)

Thanks for the comments Amazing bro, but life is not so easy yaar. The problem with AusAID scholarship is I need to return to Asia after compelting degree and its not sure if you will get job in Asia. At bachelor level, such uncertainity is ok, but at my level it's tough bro. As for me, I cannot come to Nepal as SAP is not pratically implemented in Nepal. So thinking of Thailand.

Because of all these confusions, I am desperately looking for sincere suggestions from people like Mimangsu and esctasy who has been AusAID scholar before and know Australi in detail.

LOTs of confusions and tensions going around.

lovenepalalways bro, what if u do Ph D directly after Masters? MUST u RETURN Nepal after your degree? Cant u prolong your stay if u take another course? Abt job I think u will defnetly get yaar.

Im also in full confusion these days, Very soon Ive to join Masters but Im just wondering in which country to move and which sub to choose as I dont see any future of Social Science in Western world and I dont wanna go Nepal at least 10-15 years. Currently Im in Canada but im serioulsy comparing between Aus and Can, I was in Europe before. Well, US is not my choice after getting so many suggestions in sajha.

R u in Thailand or in Nep now?

Im sure u will have cool life in Aus, 2 years is a long time for you in Aus, u can easily manage everything but Im wondering if ive to ride a cab in Aus:-)

----
by d way, did u watch Munna Bhai MBBS? Tension nahi lene ka.....ek chhuppy chaiye tumhe, a sweet hug...

Amazing bro,
well for PHD also it's same thing, u got to return asian country for 2 yrs. As per me I am not interested for PHD at all. Cannot affod to study another 4-5 yrs more and go in academic sector. I have always wanted to go for professional sector rather than being professor and all.

My masters is of 1.5 yrs..so bit better compared to 2 yrs time. I am in Nepal now. Will be leaving for Australia in June-july of 2007.

Social Science has got great demand in Nepal, specially if you are graduated from foreign countries. But as u have thought, it may be wise for you to come Nepal after few years. I am not sure of scope of social science but I guess there must be some good opportunities...atlease to handle asian projects from there. I hope u understood what I mean.

As for me, I am planning to do project in Siemens during my study as theuniversity where I will be studying has partnership with Siemens and thus put final semester students in real project during study time itself. Then planning to go Thailand for 2 yrs in Siemens, Thailand which is a good company in Thailand. But its all depends on luck.

Well I don't mind driving cabs if I can earn 6,000 per month...earn and then have fun. Thats life.

Which part of canada are you now?

Oz-
There is one University (Central Queensland Uni) known as Shanker Dev Campus of Sydney.

Oz bro, what could be the reasons of CQU being so famous among Nepalese?

Not only Central Queensland Uni, there are few more "rising" Universities for Nepali students . . . Balarath University, James Cook Uni etc. They are popular among Nepalis becoz of their cost (justo lagchha hai malai . . . ki kaso OZ dai?) Basically they do not qualify to become a Uni. If you go and have a look, you'll find them set up in one or two floors of a tall building, thats it, the Uni. Library? A small book rack with few hundred books. Yeh, some 60 - 70 computers in the computer lab. A coke and chips vending machine in the cafteria and thats it. Few chinese and indian lecturers delivering lectures. Infact you'll find same lecturer in 2 or 3 similar "range" Unis. . . . Reminds me of computer institutes in Bag bazar . . . those days. Kay garney brother, those are the only Unis that accept bachelors degree from our renowned TU . . . . . Sydney Uni justo ma padhna kallai man lagdaina hola ra?

7-9 Macquarie University 25-40 201-300
7-9 Monash University 25-40 201-300
LINK...you can search it on a web
Lovenepalalway,
Right now i think as a student you need to contemplate on finishing your studies and gaining some knowledge. Everything will follow you if you do your things with dedication. You will get a job ..you don't have to worry about it now..enjoy your time in Nepal and when you go to Australia try psending and enjoying ur life as a student. You'll never be able to have that experiance again.
From your postings above i hope i can presume safely that you haven't have an experiace like working at resturant, driving cabs or anything which we think are not too good for us. Try doing it just for a week or so and you'll be rich not in terms of money but in terms of experience. And when you look back you'll have a story to tell... from working as a bartender to what ever you'll be doing and trust me ...the most tresured experience will be working in a resturant . hehehe...so if you want to try working at any of the resturant in lygon street, st. kilda or by the side of yarra riveryou'l have an amazing experience. humm enough of lecture.....
you could try volunteer in SIEMENS first and then you could get a part time job but why waste you student life doing same kind of job which you have to do it later as well. For me i think it will be a way too boring as you'll have a sme kind of experience through out your life. ITs like having a same season all around the year ...paint your life with color of different experience.
I am 27 years old...finished my masters almost 3 years ago...and now i think all i want to do is play with clay. So you've a option to not to listen to me at all. There are people who think that its a complete waste of my education. As for my opinion ..what do they know about living. So what my point is ... don't be confused .. do whatever you want to do...want to wrok in SIEMENS go ahead try it out..you never know you might get it rightaway. Umm..but i think it is better to fill up the application saying that you would like to volunteer. Since you won't be having monetary problem you cud work for free for about a month and see what you can do after that.
About PR ....as soon as we landed and went for the orientation we were told we are not allowed to apply for PR for 2 years and even if we marry an australian ...we were supposed to go back to the country we came from and then join our spouse 2 years later. as per (AUSAID)rule you are not supposed to work and apply for PR after completion of your degree(for 2 years) . BUt people have stayed back..i don't think its much of a problem who has time and money to spy on ausaid student. I have heard that its bit difficult these days to do that.
And yes there is additional points for student , i mean for a degree you hold. if you are below 35 there is some more points..you'll get a PR . ...Its like a peice of cake for you in Australia. HAve fun.....you seem to be worried a lot.....don't worry and have fun..enjoy it while you can..pachi ta responsiblites le hold back garera hairan.

Sorry for a dumb question but i was wondering if you'll get a PR only for graduating from Aus universitites or do you have to get a job and get sponsored, like in the USA.

I would like to know more about IT jobs :=)

dyman, you can apply under General Skilled Migration program. You need to have 120 points to be qualified for this program. You can assess qualification at http://www.liveinaustralia.com/home/visa_assessments.asp

It usually takes from 8-12 months for the process. I suggest not to waste money on Migration Agent. If you need more, feel free to email me :=)

you can find all the information on DIMA website: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/index.htm

Dear lovenepalalways

I worked 4 -5 days and well over 20 hours , but it was then,Immigration office didnot care then. One of our friend Diwakar who is also first nepalese taxi driver used to earn about 2000 a week SO I got the license too.
Uni's are only 2-3 days so I got bored staying home.
In my last year I found a job at motor company managing their computer and network and I also managed going to Uni as well as working. But its hard these days becasue of immigration office.

SAP is good thing to do right now as there is a shortage of SAP professional in Australia.
You dont really have to come back, lot of my friends never came back You can always get marreid and stay .2 year rule doesnot apply if you get married.

If you decide to return there are lot of SAP jobs in Banglore.

If you are in AUSAID you cannot stay in Australia after your graduation.BUT this doesnot apply to other common students. You get 5 extra points toward to PR if you graduate from Australian Uni or college. Please note current rule is, you have to study for at least 2 years, if you are going to apply in Overseas student category.

Dear mimangsu and esctasy,
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience. It’s great to hear from you. You have guessed right, I have not worked in restaurant before but I used to work in the university in HELP Desk for IT when I was doing my MBA since my bachelor degree was in computer engineering. As you have recommended, I will definitely work in restaurant for the experience propose and of course for hand cash. ;) I would prefer driving cabs, but I am not sure how to process for license and of course knowing locations must have been a prerequisite for this.

Most probably, I will be getting married in dec, 2007 so planning to earn as much as I can before that i.e. between July-Dec, 2007. After marriage, wanna have real life, traveling around. In this time, I will also work for SIEMSN as volunteer as I will be quite relieved from financial closure.

Well I will surely look for options how people stay back after completion of AUSAID scholarship and see if I can make it out. ;) Otherwise will go other country.

esctasy, as u have said “2 year rule doesnot apply if you get married”. I didn’t get it. Do you mean this if I get married with Australian or with other as well? Well as per me, I will be getting married with my gf who is a Nepalese. So this rule applies here as well?

I know I will get to know more once I land on Australia, but information from your guys has helped so much to know it better. Sincere thanks to you both.

I think both country Australia & Canada are same. You have to work any where, where U went for your daily life. Malai ta Nepal nai dherai ramro lagchha. Kamsekam aafno ragat pasina ko mol ta painchha.

I highly doubt that. In fact, I know the above statement is not true. With all the nepotism, shoddy work, corruption, inequality in work and in society, Nepal hardly qualifies for place where one can get aafno ragat pasina ko mol.

I might get some flak for this from pseudo-nationalists, but each and every one of you know what I say is true.
