In 2015, an earthquake shattered Nepal, but for Lalu Pandey, a different kind of shake-up changed his path. He was set to leave the U.S. in a week from Baltimore when he heard that TPS had been granted for Nepal. He decided to stay, and that was the beginning of his journey.
Then there were students who had been in the U.S. since 2010 but couldnтАЩt afford college. One of them worked as a pizza delivery guy, got lucky with TPS, and later started a small business. People from different backgrounds came together under TPS, each with their own story.
They accepted what was given to them and made the most of it. They never intended to demand a free Green Card or citizenship. They were simply grateful to be taxpayers and law-abiding non-citizens in the U.S. What more could they have asked for?
This time, in 2025, the earthquake didnтАЩt hit NepalтАФit struck their lives in the U.S. In an instant, everything was shaken tremendously.
As the days go by, they have more questions than solutions or answers.
