This chart is from the Himal Khabar Patrika's Web site As long as the Maoists target people in villages -- desperately poor, anonymous. helpless and unconnected to any civil institutions of any sort -- the residents of Kathmandu can go on denying that more than 80 per cent of them are NOT affected by the Maoist violence. **** On the first day of each Nepali month, leading members of the Nepali civil society gather at a park in Thapathali to hold a candle-light vigil to mourn the dead. It's a good start, but let's hope that from next month onward, they will also do some work to find out the names of those who did the dying and then recite their names in public.

On second thoughts, why only the Maoists? The Army's record is not that great either. The Maoists are WRONG about many things, but one thing they are sadly right about is the fact that the number of civilian deaths rose up to shocking heights after the Army was mobilized. oohi ashu

Nobody wins in war. We all know that. When armed force is mobilize, all you get is bloodshed. That's what they are trained to do and that's part of their resume. Hello, wake up everyone. What do you expect; a bloodless confrontation...Stop joking

Kathmandu is uneffected so is sajha ,n the people who talk politics but never dare to say what the King is doing is nothing more than leading the country to autocratic system. I believe, as long as we dont suffer we wont know the sufferings of others, who cares if somebody dies in a remote village when u have our plate full with a remote control on our hand.....dont like graphic pics of gruesome killings.....change the channel we wont see the suffering anymore, enjoy a song on Mtv, or go to BBC n see what is going wrong in Falluja. after that go to bed loaded with information good for our IQ ofcourse n NOTHING MORE...no one has the guts to initiate, and the sufferers r always suppressed with their suffers. Like Picaso" playing" a flute when the whole Rome is burning. We really dont care, n I am sure that doesnt change. So wont kathmandu n sajha.
