Hi,
I am thinking of getting either RAV4 or CRV, 4 cylinder. I dont see use for v6 (extra 2-3k, less mileage).

Need some inputs , which is better ? I am thinking RAV4 because CRV seems girlish. RAV4 seems more stylish. Interior quality may be better in honda but I think in terms of reliability, toyota is still better. I also had bad expereince with honda before.

What do you guys think?

Do consider Subaru too.

And then there is Nissan Rogue, more power. But between CRV and Rav 4, I go with CRV. Have you seen the latest one? Better than Rav 4.

I like CRV.

I like its design of the front hood.  I like its interior.  I like its reliability (Toyota's is down hill as so much publicized lately but it had been deteriorating for past some years).

Only reason I thought I would consider Rav4 was for its 3rd row seats.  But during the test-drive, I could not even fit half my body there.  Purely cosmetic.

Btw, Subaru Forester is ranked at the top.  But I found its looks too bland.  CRV is a pleasure to drive and easy on eyes too.

My opinion.  You have to test-drive and see which one you fall in love with.

CRV CRV CRV

RAV4?? R U kidding me?? It's look from outside is OK but I like CRV's look anyway. From interior to performance and reliability, TOYOTA is way behind from Honda. To say that Toyota is more reliable than Honda is a bhakari of ignorance.

Are you looking for reliable commuting vehicle or SUV in particular. Keep in mind that nor RAV4 nor CRV fulfills the SUV's needs. It is just because of manufacturers' aggressive marketting, lot's people dump money on such vehicle. If you are looking for reliable vehicles, for the money you spend for CRV or RAV4, go with Honda accord or Camry. These are good sedans. If you want to go with SUV, move one step up for Highlander, 4 Runner or Holda Pilot. Otherwise, don't spend money for CRV or RAV4 crab.

agree with bhikari. i have driven latest CRV and they have used very cheap materials. interior was poorly made. no wonder you can get those in 20s.

if you want to get a good feel of SUV and use SUV as a SUV, then go with high end. if you just want to drive around and have a SUV feeling go with CRV or RAV4. before you jump into it, make sure you test drive them. 90% of the decision making comes from test drive experience.

goodluck

Have you even tried CRV or Rav4? Don't trash talk if you haven't even tried one. I have tried all the ones I mentioned plus the highlander. If you had tried Rav4 you wouldn't say go with Camry.

First of all the stability, specially in icy road is way superior; AWD/4WD is standard with most models - not the case with Camry or Accord. Roomy, way roomier compared to the cars.

If you have a large family go with Highlander or bigger, otherwise Rav 4/CRV is more than what you need without costing too much on fuel.

I am more lineant on rav4 too. Toyota's recall is not related to any mechanical problems and I think it is more hyped up than it should be becuase they want to favor american economy. sticking gas pedal is not a mechanical issue. I think toyota is better in terms of reliability, what you guys think?

I had corolla and civic. My old corolla didnt give me much trouble compared to newer civic. But we are talking different classes here. CRV to me looks like a chic vehicle RAv4 looks better. do you guys know how reliable it is? I am deciding between sport or limited trim.

Also thinking of waiting till next year because of all these recalls, I am optimistic that toyota's new 2011 models will be top notch in quality. Suggestions please.

bhikari bro ,
let me tell you one thing from experience..its not you who will choose a car, a car will choose you, when you are walking down that isle.
.you may have RaV 4 on your mind when u are on your way to the dealership. but u might end up getting something else...and end up making decision right there..and discard RAv 4 for something u fall in love at first sight..thats what happpened to me..i wanted to buy a honda civic..looked it up on the internet.found a decent 2007 honda civic coupe leather interior(which i was looking for, and leather seats in honda civic coupe are not factory made)..so i was like..i found my car..u know..how it is....when u are buying a car..u jump form one to other model..every other moment..hehe..so this car is at a toyota delership..i go there..look at it..and decide to buy it..and on the way to the office, where u do all the dealings and stuffs..i saw a car..right there shining under the midday sun..this sales person noticed me looking at it..and asked me if i wanted to have al ooka at it.. i said sure..i got into it..took it for a test drive and wow.. i was amazed, and realized that i nearly made a bad decision focusing only in civic models.. this was Toyota Solara Sle 2008 model ..had 46k miles on it... i fell for it.. forgot about civic at all..its way..better than civic.. i still have it.. its a V6,they have V4s too.. its a coupe..they have convertible and regular both..its a coupe but youd be amazed once you get inside.. its as spacious as a 4 dr sedan.. and smooth transmission, zero road noise, no vibration at the steering wheel...blue tooth phone device, navigation, seat warmers, and talking bout it has got seats that are used in Lexus models... and the price???? price of  what honda civics normally are.... its simply amazing..i have had it for almost a year now..

bhikari bro i am not advertising for this car,, i m just suggesting you to keep your options open...just dont focus in on one or two models..btw..have you thought about  Toyota FJ cruisers..if i was Buying a SUV, id rather go for FJ Cruisers..they are awesome..and not very different form RAv 4s price wise.. may be a couple thousand here and there..make your choice bro..
