if it is urgent use money gram. but for long run u can apply 2 paypal debit cards. keep one for u'rself send one to nepal. u'r family can withdraw money anytime from any atm machine and the charge is only 1 dollar per transaction exchange rate is whatever the rate of the day is. u n u'r family can check online how much fund u have. its easy , flexible , cheap.

Even I would suggest MoneyGram. So far, for me MoneyGram is the best. I tried everything from Muncha, thamel, moneytonepal, Wire transfer from Bank etc. But finally I found MoneyGram the fastest and reliable. Check details at moneygram.com

I did check PayPal, just curious and seems like PayPal charges are little more than $1 per transaction. Seems like if you withdraw money outside US, PayPal will change around 1+2.5=3.5% of transaction. See details below or check PayPal user agreement

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_debit&login_access=1230400141

Paypal Fees.

ATM Withdrawal US $1.00

(Plus any amounts charged by the ATM owner.)
Signature Withdrawal $3.00 if a signature is required.
Non-US ATM Transaction

(Using an ATM machine that is not in the US)
1%

This fee will apply even if the transaction does not require a currency conversion.
Non-US Debit Card Usage

(Making a purchase from a seller that is not in the US)
1%

This fee will apply even if the transaction does not require a currency conversion.
Exchange Rate & Fee The currency exchange rate is determined by PayPal based on the current market price and includes a 2.5% Fee. This Fee only applies when PayPal performs the currency conversion.

Dear ek@l,

Even though its not my business to tell u what to do and what not to do but as a nepali native I would strongly suggest u not to use BHIM KARKI Unq MRT. He would clearly take advantage of your situation and take extreme benefit. He doesn't do the business; he tries to steal your money by not touching your pocket. He would sell himself, surroundings, best friends or any body if he knows he's getting money.

Beware and don't get robbed and raped by the half man name BHIM KARKI.

Good luck.

use legal means to send money. do not use hundi. cos in nepal, new law requires that you have to be able to show the source of income. If you send through hundi, the recipient will not be able to show proof of income. About different services, just remember nothing is free even when they say its free. use your best judgement.

If you have Washington Mutual Bank in your area, open account with them. They do international wire transfer for free, provide competitive exchange rate directly deposited to the bank account in Nepal but takes 24-72 hours.
