I don't think booting in safe mode helps!! Coz, even thre you need password for administrator. If you have enabled Administrator account, and you have set the password for it, then yes, safe mode helps!!

Or,

bang your head, try to remember ur passwd..if e'thing fails...then Reinstallation will help!!

If it’s your only problem, then you probably have nothing to worry about. As long as you have your Windows XP CD, you can get back into your system using a simple but effective method made possible by a little known access hole in Windows XP:

1. Place your Windows XP CD in your cd-rom and start your computer (it’s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable – as it should be - and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)

2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to your cd Typically, it will be “Press any key to boot from cd”

3. Once you get in, the first screen will indicate that Setup is inspecting your system and loading files.

4. When you get to the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to Setup Windows now

5. The Licensing Agreement comes next - Press F8 to accept it.

6. The next screen is the Setup screen which gives you the option to do a Repair. It should read something like “If one of the following Windows XP installations is damaged, Setup can try to repair it” Use the up and down arrow keys to select your XP installation (if you only have one, it should already be selected) and press R to begin the Repair process.

7. Let the Repair run. Setup will now check your disks and then start copying files which can take several minutes.

8. Shortly after the Copying Files stage, you will be required to reboot. (this will happen automatically – you will see a progress bar stating “Your computer will reboot in 15 seconds”

9. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of “pressing any key” to boot from the CD again! Setup will resume automatically with the standard billboard screens and you will notice Installing Windows is highlighted.

10. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access to your system.

11. At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. Voila! You have just gained graphical access to your User Accounts in the Control Panel.

12. Now simply pick the account you need to change and remove or change your password as you prefer.

13. Once the Repair is done, you will be able to log on with your new password (or without a password if you chose not to use one or if you chose not to be asked for a password). Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact.

Hope it works!!!

So, Nobody here knows about password cracker.
There are different kinds of Password cracking tools available for u to download and make a bootable cd. Just boot from that cd and It will blank out the password for whatever account you want.
Google is your friend.

I dunno if above mentioned stuff would work. If you have bought second hand or smone gifted you then you might not have a valid Window CD.

I bought my previous Think Pad R 502 from ebay and had problems similar to you. I had two admin account and accidentally deleted them.

The easiest way for you is to hack your own computer. There are different websites which might help.

I used John the ripper. They had website which has this exe file which you need to burn in a disk and insert in your optical drive. Then after certain procedure it would give you some hexa-decimal code which you need to put in their website. You'll get your password (most of the time) in 48 hours. If you wanna pay some 30 bucks then you will get right away.

Try it. Thats how I got.

PS: For this, you need to get into guest account or sm other machine.

There are few in here. Try them.

Guess, the only option is to re-install

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/66b61e8e-341d-453b-9edd-234301dfd7e51033.mspx

What to do if you forget your Windows password

If you've forgotten your Windows password and you're on a domain, you should contact your system administrator to reset your password. If you're not on a domain, you can reset your password by using a password reset disk or by using an administrator account.

If you forget the administrator password and don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows and will need to re-install Windows.

Show all

To use your password reset disk to reset your password

To use an administrator account to reset your password

Drunkun did you try any of those things? Before you try anything else try the safe mode thing because many people do not pay attention to the default administrator account and do not set password when they have pre-installed copy of windows. If you are a smarty pants then I believe you have set password for the default administrator account. The repair option I mentioned earlier should work with any bootable XP cd. Good luck

You have a few options..(assuming you are running Windows 7)

1) boot into safe mode and see if the hidden administrator account has a password set or not (alot of people forget to set it). once you get in you can create yourself a new user.

2) An ERD disk would work if you have one.

3) If you have an install disk you can also do a repair install which will ask you for a new admin password but won’t delete the other programs on the machine.

4) downloadable crack programs like those listed here :reset Windows 7 password

OK Here is what you can do(Assuming you dont have anything that needs to be saved on your system drive):

-- Get a another computer
-- Login google
-- Search for factory reset XXX (brand of your computer) XXX ( windows version)
-- Follow the instruction

You should be able to install the new copy of windows without having CD/DVD of windows by pressing one of the function key(F1-F12) depending on your computer brand and windows version. This may delete everything from your system drive and install the new copy of windows.

I have done this few times.

Hope this helps.
