Please reconsider California. This state had its good time but now it's going downhill. As they say in Texas, "Do Not California My Texas."

I recommend Dallas Fort Worth metro area.

How old is your daughter? If she is at least 3, your wife can start working, if you make less than 200 k a year then I agree you are in a very bad shape to live in California.

My wife was working in hospitality industry but since pandemic she been working entry level IT (Qa/ba) but either way c not been able to generate more than 40 K working full time so I asked her stay home . My work is pharmacy related, I have a better job offer in california but everything comes up with a the price . My base pay is less than 200k even in cali , I'm hoping to just come around 200k with bonus and everything but it's not guaranteed. Median home price range is around 1.2 million in that area n with this income I feel like I'll be under poverty line . I need to move cali for my career enhancement

You can stil move to Texas as Ujjwal suggested. If you don’t want to hang out with Nepalese there you don’t have to. They don’t own Texas so it’s your choice to mingle or not mingle with them. Also 200 k will be a decent income there.

I think there are at least two aspects to this Mr. Tiwari's question.
1) If you are moving to the Bay-area especially, your 200k income will not be adequate. Look at 300k+, I suppose.

2) CA has one of the highest income and sales taxes even if you move to cheaper areas of the state.

Additionally, you have to consider the quality of life, commute time to and from work, family-friendliness, quality of public schools, violent/property crime stats, local homelessness, etc.
I would pay a visit to your prospective destination once done researching personally crucial factors.

I moved out of California after living there for about 6 years in early 2000, in similar situations like yours. I have mixed felling about it 10 years later. It’s definitely struggle with average income out there . 200k will probably be like 150k equivalent of some other moderate state, in terms of disposable income due to tax and high price goods service. Housing is expensive, so you will be left with very less wiggle room for other expenses. But at the same time , you will most likely accumulate equity in house .

For young adult child care expense is another factor, for me it was like second mortgage back then. At one point I was paying more for day care then my mortgage. I was tired of leaving pay check to pay check even after making decent salary.

But there is no doubt that climate and opportunity plus opportunity to accumulate equity is huge in cali. Your kids will most likely do very good due to network and opportunity that exist in cali. Your kids most likely will have better odds for success .

So in summary, below is my personal thoughts.
1) Dont do it, if it pushes your wife on the edge to make more money and she will end up hating it. It’s not worth it. If your wife is also high achiever personality and willing to put all in, in year or two she will easily make close to what you make, then it’s probably ok.
2) if your priority is day to day life. Have decent saving as safetynet and be able to spend at this phase of life, then probably not north move.
3) if priority is long term carer growth, accumulating equity in home value, build network for business or career , set foundation for kids success while struggling little for time being, it might worth it.

california is one of those states where quality of life will be awful unless ure making over 500k. there are a ton of nepalis surviving but their quality of life is real bad. 100k is like nothing. private schools can cost from 2k to 6k per month. nannies can cost from 2k to 10k.

a beer and a burger will cost 30. taxes are high. even plumbers make over 100/hr for this reason.

lol ... remembering my own quote " you have to be either ultra poor or ultra rich to live a life you want in Cali, others jus get left behind" happening wid me rt now .

to make 500K a year, my wife has to bring in 200 K/yr which is not happening in a while . i m livin a lavish life in a small town but my career growth has come to an dead end, i need an exit
