Friends, I am using this space for making a personal announcement that is very much a part of my Sajha life and which my well-wisher Sajha mates have been inquiring for several months already. Well, my mini-novel Chaytna Nasakeko Chithiis finally published and a website dedicated to promote it is up and running. - http://www.dkhadka.com/chithi I have a long list of Sajhaites to thank. First and foremost, Echoes for an excellent web design and Shree for valuable guidance to web-illiterate person like me. Gokul-jee for a wonderful preface for the book which, let me give a preview, starts with the story of how it all started right here in Sajha some years ago. I am donating the proceeds from the book to Help Nepal Network. And I have to thank Shirish for making that possible and helping me out in too many things. I am also grateful to anonymous Sajha artists and models for their precious cooperation during my initial search for a design for the book. Then all initial readers of the story for their encouragement and following up inquiries regarding its publication. So, basically, in Sajha had my book it's birth pang and it would not have seen this day without Sajha. I have been telling to all that Sajha has been a rewarding experience for me. I have not been a very regular Sajha visitor even if I have been coming here once in a while for a long time. During these many years, I have seen only few people who can carry on debate with passion and spellbind other visitors. I agree with the fact that Biswo came neck to neck with you on that debate and it really helped to understand the concern on both sides. Debate becomes exciting when two sides are equally profound about the topic from their perspective. So, we should promote the culture of having healthy debates on relevant issues without worrying about what anybody would say.

च्यात्न नसकेको चिठीको आफ्नै प्रति हात पर्यो। पहिले नै एक पल्ट पढेर सक्काइसकेको भए पनि किन किन फेरि खाम खोल्न हतार लाग्यो। फेरि कुशा सँगै यात्रा सुरु गरेँ र अविरल पन्ना पल्टाउँदै गएँ। म पुस्तक अत्यन्त कम पढ्ने गर्छु। पाठ्यपुस्तकका रुपमा बाध्यताले तथा केहि धार्मिक आस्थाले पढिएका पुस्तकहरु बाहेक कमै मात्र पुस्तक दोहोर्याएर पढ्ने जाँगर चल्यो। पागल बस्ति, सुम्निमा, शिरिषको फूल र लुटिएका दुइ थुँगा फूल पछि च्यात्न नसकेको चिठीलाई दोस्रो पल्ट पढेँ। च्यात्न नसकेको चिठीमा मैले भेटेका केही विशेषताहरु : "....बाहिर पानी रोकियो, भित्र बर्सिरहेछ। तिमी बर्सिरहेछौ, म रूझिरहेकी छु। फरक यत्ति हो - बर्सिने बादललाई थाहा छैन, ऊ धरतीको कुन शुष्क कुनालाई छप्छप्ती रूझाइरहे".......>>> भाषाको माधुर्यता ! ....म झसङ्ग भएँ। अकस्मात मलाई तिम्रो चिउँडोको खत सम्झना भएर आयो। ........ म तिमीलाई दिनमा कयौँ चोटि सम्झन्थेँ। तर मेरो सम्झनामा तिम्रो चिउँडोको खत थिएन।..... उसले मेरा दुबै हात बिस्तारै आफ्नो गालामा पुर्यायो। अनायास हात झड्कारेर तानेँ।.......>>> कल्पनशिलताको उत्कर्ष ! ...सहसा मलाई लाग्यो- मैले घोर अपराध गरेकी छु। .... म विस्तारै उठेर सोफा तिर बढेँ। ..... त्यसपछि म उसको गोडामा निधार अड्याएर रोएँ...... ...त्यस पछि मैले सुटकेस उठाएँ। मेरो पति मलाई कातर नयनले हेरिरहेको थियो......सुटकेस भूईँमै राखेर म मेरो पति छेउ पुगेँ। म उसलाई चुम्न चाहन्थेँ। ...... मेरो छातिबाट जे उठ्न खोज्यो, मैले त्यसलाई उसको हात चुमेर थुनेँ। ...... >>> नारी हृदयको सजिव बिष्लेषण (सायद)। "पुनश्चले" उब्जाएका खुल्दुलीहरु: कुशाको हृदयमा फटफटाएको यो सच्चा प्रेम हो या उमेरको बहकाव !!! "पुनश्च" भन्दा अगाडि उपन्यासले sinusoidal curve को एक पूर्ण चक्र पार गरेको छ। "पुनश्च" यो sinusoidal curve को पूर्णविराम हो या अर्को चक्रको शुरुवात !!! लेखकको आँखाले जसरी हेरे पनि सायद म जस्ता केही पाठकलाई यी दुई प्रश्न सदा अनुत्तरित नै हुनेछ। त्यसैले हरेक पाठक आफ्नो जीवनको कुनै न कुनै खुट्किलामा एक पल्ट च्यात्न नसकेको चिठीलाई सम्झिन बाध्य हुनेछन्। लेखक प्रति मेरो सानो छुस्याईँ: ..."सुविधै सुविधा छ। मुख्य कुरो त यहाँ बढी सुरक्षित छु।" लेग्रो तानेर आँखा झिम्कयाउँदै तिमीले भनेका थियौ।... >>> उपन्यास भरि मेरो कल्पनाको सञ्जी चैँ यति ठट्टेउलो अन्त कतै कहिल्यै भएन। ....जीवनमा पहिलो पल्ट ईश्वरको नाम लिएँ मैले।..................... सिर्फ एक मिनेटको निम्ति।" .............>>> प्रेममा यति सजिलै फस्न सक्ने एक नेपाली नारी यति विघ्न नास्तिक ? यो केटी त मेरो कल्पनाको कुशा भन्दा अधिक कोणले फरिक निस्किई। अन्त्यमा: हार कस्को ? जित कस्को ? प्रेमका ३ खेलाडीलाई बडो कुशलताका साथ हराएर केवल लेखकले मात्र जितेका छन् यहाँ। बाँकी तीनै पात्र (सञ्जी, कुशा, र रवि) नराम्रो सँग पछारिएका छन। आफ्नै पारा : हे प्रभो ! मलाई रविकान्त हुन नपरोस। बरु सञ्जि नै हुन सहर्ष तयार छु। :-) :-) -भउते

:-) सुन्नुमा अर्कै मज्जा छ। प्रसङ्ग भन्दा बाहिर, नेपे-जीलाई मेरो एउटा सानो सल्लाह के। वेव-पेजमा त्यो हरियो रङ्गको धर्काहरु र जति हरियो पृष्ठभूमिहरु छ नि, त्यसलाई "च्यात्न नसकेको चिठी" को बाहिरी पृष्ठभूमिमा भएको रङ्गमा बदल्दा कसो होला ? त्यो रङ्ग तपाईँको "ट्रेडमार्क रङ्ग" जस्तो के। गृहपृष्ठ खोल्दा झर्लक्क उपन्यासको सम्झना आउँछ नि। अब अर्को शेरको प्रतिक्षामा।

नेपेदाजी, I recieved the novel around 15 days ago but I just got chance to read today. I finished it in a single sitting. मेरो केहि भन्नु। 1. I try not to understand women. And the comments made here by some female readers, made me curious to read this book. 2. I am fascinated by your depiction of the depth of that sorrow or uneasiness one feels when he/she is in love. 3. The flow of incidents are well developed and makes you finish the whole book at once. The size helps on it too though. 4. Some words are really difficult for an average Nepali to understand indeed. "आत्मोत्सर्ग", "त्राण", "उदात्तता" "प्रतीति" etc. Perhaps some of them are self invented. 5. It could just be my openion but I think those who don't believe in god and truth, can't love truely. That love could only be for social co-existance, for romance or for various other purposes (money, fame or just lust or attraction). 6. Page 40/41, "होइन सञ्जी, उसले मेरो प्राथना सुनेन। (चिउँडोको त्यो खत ... पतिको चिउँडोको खत ... पति र चिउँडोको खत ... चिउँडोको खत ... कि चिउँडोको खत ...। The repetition of the same phrase again and again really gets in the nerve as if we readers are Kusha and disturbed by it. Was it your intention? 7. May be there could be some possible story development by writing some more about the two leading male characters to avoid its monotony. However, it is a definitely a successful attempt as an author.

Hi Nepe... excerpts of ur novel is very touching. listened to ur sher....but in URDU... u have to care about "makharaz" (sort of like accent) when telling the shayeri. but.....u have done a great job. thanks

Although I tend to differ with Nepe politically, I have to applaud him for his literary prowess and his command of the Nepali tongue. Morever, his grasp and comprehension of Urdu shers and translations into Nepali kept me in awestruck wonder. Bravo!

Chipji, Thanks a lot for such a sweet encouragement. To be honest, my Urdu is pretty poor. So dictionaries and translations by others are secrets of my understanding of Shayaris. For example, for Ghalib's Shayari, I have got Dr. Sarfaraz K. Niazi's translation. He has done a wonderful job of not only translating but also explaining each and every sher. It is a must have book for students of Ghazal. - http://www.ghalib.org/ Thanks also for your note on political differences. I believe, on fundamental issues of democracy and freedom, we must have similar views. So our differences are probably on minor and practical issues if any. I also believe that recent political development is bringing all Nepalis slowly but surely towards a common political resolve for Nepal. So I believe we all are coming closer and closer together.
