Dalli Resham - I agree and that's a shame.

Violent politics, especially one of this nature, has almost always backfired at the polls. I think the JTMM and MPRF are only filling in a vacuum created by the reluctance of the NC to take up the Madesi issue and impotence of the Sadhbhawana party. If these two parties can get their acts together on the Madesi issue, this violence might just abate. A tactical and operational Congress-Sadbhawana alliance in the Terai is the need of the hour in my opinion. It wont solve all the problems but it will give strength to moderate voices within the Madesi community and that might be the best hope we have. Such an alliance will also add pressure on the UML and Maoists to form their own alliances in the terai or join the mainstream Madesi-issues bandwagon. It can also create a model for other ethnic groups and parties. For ethnic aspirations to be truly fulfilled they need to become national aspirations, case in point the US civil rights movement, and I feel these regional forces need to work in tandem with national parties to achieve their objectives.

The national parties have put forward some good ideas, however imperfect they may be, and the ball is clearly in the court of the regional parties to act responsibly in the interests of their community and the larger interests of the country and region.
