Iphone is good but then agian its on edge network so the internet is not gonna be nice i would wait couple of months for a 3g version of the iphone.

I would not buy palm its reliable but no 3g plus the palm company is having some problem.

I would not buy tilt even though it has a GPS and 3G because the company which made that phone screwed up the video driver part (keeping it short) so the video playback sucks big time

If you got good cingular coverage in your area, iPhone can be pretty sweet, but if not, its a bitch to crack and wont have third party goodies with it.

ATT tilt, I guess its the new HTC Titan II phone, I haven't used it but it does sound like a pretty feature packed phone.

Personally i am a Blackberry person and I love those things to death. So if you fancy, a Blackberry curve could be a sweet phone. I have the pearl but im gonna upgrade to the curve. If you DO decide to get a blackberry, get the data plan for it as well, as half the phone's power is in that! It is a bit pricey, but if it suits your needs then you "gatta do what you gatta do brah". Plus the curve's got wifi as well, not that it would make a big difference with a data plan, but ...another cool option for you:D

as for the Palm centrino, it was hate at first sight because I didn't like the dimensions. Kinda bulky (but then I've paraded around with a P800 for a year) plus I HATE windows (just my personal opinion). My friend has one, and I hardly see him using it for anything else except answering phone calls.

If you want a personal organizer sorts of phone, I highly recommend the Blackberry Curve. (iPhone - you drop it once, you get a heart attack! and I'm a clumsy person)

If you want a phone with truly awesome camera, then the LG viewty is just the phone for you.

If you want an all rounder phone, try the Nokia N 95. Its got better reviews than the iPhone. Tons of stuff to tinker with if you like having your personal music collection on your phone.

If you want a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly small phone, but just a phone, get the Samsung E888.

Hmm.. confusing huh?

So I'd say, anything BUT the iPhone.

I have ATT Tilt and it's a great phone.  The video playback users are complaining about is really minimal.  I have about 8-9 movies encoded in DivX and they play great using TCPMP.  Trust me, you will not notice the video issue.  Plus, flash your phone with custom ROMs found at www.xda-developers.com and you'll be good to go.  GPS rocks on this phone.  I have a 6GB microSD card and have 8-9 movies, tons of pictures, songs, GPS with US maps, etc.  Why don't you try the Tilt under ATT's 30-day money back guarantee and if you don't like it, you can always return it and get an iPhone or something else.  iPhone, to me, is just an eye-candy.

My 2 cents!

latoboy, I would definitely recommend going with a Tilt.  Download Dutty's ROM from xda-devs and you'll be good to go.  Think about iPhone and expandability.  iPhone is cool but how many 3rd party applications are out there?  You will be very limited.  With WM6, just about any kind of applications exist.

Also, I found something cool...you might want to wait for this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=389935

It seems you want smartphone. not just a simple phone. It depends on use. Sometimes, if you are not using the features, why to buy an expensive phone. OK, 3-4 phones
iPhone, ATT tilt (HTC TYtn. kraiser), blackberry curve, nOKIA n95.

iPhone , a cool phone but with less features, and without physical keypad, thats problem, and 3rd party applications are being made. actually if you want ipod ad phone, and a cooll looking , its your choice and what about waiting for next release with GPS and 3G.

with Tilt, GREAT phone, with Windows mobile plateform, u can do a lot, its actually a pda. so, you can do anything. office packages, and you can download many softwares free or paid. I love it. I have this with 8 gb class 4 SDHC card. and its great. The video issue is not a big problem, i have TCPMP 0.81 and it playbacks almost every format , good interface. Rather than going with the ATT tilt's navigon, i like tom tom 6, and thats great. you can customie many thibg and can even flash with some superb ROMs fro xda developers. wifi is my most loved part of it, you can disable your data connection with media.net , thru modaco nodata. It also works as ipod replace ment although not so easy like ipod, mostly while driving i connet this to my cars CD drive and enjoy the music.

Nokia N95?? all is cool still not WM, so whats your purpose, it will beat iphone. but not tilt.

Blackberry, not bad

and what about waiting for sony xperia, i think it is almost like tilt.

and pretty good news for new customers, lets talk has ATT tilt for free.

wow im glad to see so many smart phone fans here...

what do u guys think about the HTC Excalibur (dash) ?

Tilt is kind of pricey... i dont want to get a new plan so i have to buy on market prices. about the N95, its so damn expensive.

hey how about you Tilt owners... i think ilt has GPS.. i heard have u to pay $10 a month to use it... is there any free software to get GPS working on that.

so im trying to decide, Old Iphone, New Iphone, Tmobile Dash, Tilt ?

i like to websurf from phone and sometimes sms... and i like WM6 so that is my only problem with Iphone and blackberry curve. but Iphone is sooo sexy that i can impress anyone with that.. its such a fashion statement. so sleek, black, smooth... anyone can fall in love with that sexy beast Iphone.

yup latoboy, Iphone is sexy and impresive  but lazy worker.

Tilt is still sexy and works too. GPS, dont use navigon, use tom tom 6 you will get it in some 40-50 $ in deal otherwise, 99. N 95 is damn expensive and i think it is symbian not WM. if you like to web surf, data plan or wi fi?? be sure to buy a phone with inbuilt wifi. some fones say wifi capable but have to but wifi card, thats fits in micro/ miniSD slot.

hey shivanagar

is tomtom6 a software that costs $40 or hardware... because if it is software only, im sure i can download it from the net for free somewhere. also how good is the GPS..? can u use it well for like driving from one place to another in the car ?

i am doing some research on the Tilt, i think there must be 2 different tilts.. the new one must be the nice one with all the features...  im excited.. i was considering iphone the whole time ,but now i think i might get something else.

my contract is also going to expire very soon but i am not getting at&t this time. I have very bad experience with at&t. simply doesn't work in my apt, my work, train station and lots of other places. Though i have 3g phone, 3g signal is very weak.planing to go for sprint this time. Probably buy palm centro this time coz its free for new customers in Walmart.com.

I use Tomtom on Tilt.  If you use ATT's GPS service, then, yes, you will have to pay a monthly fee, but, you can buy Tomtom or Garmin PDA software and never have to deal with monthly fee.  It's just a one-time buy.  Tilt also has Wifi so you can use Google Maps whenever you have Wifi access.  TCPMP (I use v.72RC1) plays all kinds of files, even FLVs.  FLVs mean that you can download all those cool YouTube videos and travel with them. :)

Tilt with Tomtom or Garmin is the same thing as buying a stand-alone GPS device.  Tilt already has the necessary hardware, you just need the software.  I have used the Tilt many times and the GPS part is very reliable.  Just make sure you invest in a good car charger if you are going to use GPS.

you have a inbuilt GPS receiver in tilt, so i am talking about software. i bought it from ebay with SD card. if you want to buy it from some software vendor it costs more than 100. same about garmin, but in review i see tomtom better than garmin, or other. downloading for free, ?? what is that?? are you in NEpal?? .......may be try your luck.

yup, I use my tilt with tomtom in my car.

tilt is like my girlfriend, i found it hardly. i own it. but then..................I am spending a lot in accessories.

I think there are no two versions of tilt. TILT, TYTN II, Kaiser all are the same name of my girlfriend. ATT seels this with its ROM, so it is ATT tilt here in USA. Its TYTN II/ Kaiser  in europe.

one u upgraded to ditty's ROM, thats no more tilt. that's TYTN II.

some other things,

contact manager - fingerfriendly friends is best rather than iContact
although released is said to be TCPMP 0.72, i found unofficial 0.81 somewhere in XDA or other forum.

and i am confident that dittywill make a rom like HTC touch diamond, and then wow I am winner, Iphone will no more be sexy.. he he

And just a query, who use which smartphone?? just interested because there are many TILT lovers.
