Nice product. Meh design. Good thinking on the kickstand and HDMI. I like the fact that it comes with the cover, oh wait! $130 for an “integrated cover” are you kidding me? It looks like Microsoft started with a tablet but end up with a notebook or I should say ultrabook?

BT , now only RT version of surface is out ; its unknownn when they will release pro version of surface. They also release windows 8 for desktop which you can update from windows 7 PC for 39 bucks . I will probably do that but I dont like tiles on desktop.

Price is high. For that price I would buy an Ipad. I cant justify spending $500 on tablet. Had it been surface pro for $500, I would have been all over it.
Anywayt, I wish luck to Window 8 tablets.

They priced high, coz, it's more than what a tablet can do. It looks like a PC to me. The one they showed few CES ago, the ACER hybrid tab/PC was an epic fail. This one is convincing :D

@BT
Window RT is not full fledged version of WIndow8. The only benefit I could see in microsoft office which might be huge for students but tablet is more about apps. How many tablet apps are there in window8? Just because they add up for $130 keyboard does not make it PC. Asus trasmformer has done that already with android. I consider it neither tablet nor PC. If I have to choose cheaper tablet I ll go for android, if I want expensive tab I ll pic Ipad and if I want lighter PC I ll pick ultrabook.

rahasya, very nice verdict.
I can't yet say any pros/cons without actually seeing/trying that thing in my hand, which any cheapskates like me do by visiting nearest bestbuy fooling around.

@Rahasya How many apps were there when iPhone or iPad came out? Apps are coming out for Windows 8. Just wait and watch. I don't want to run old apps on touch screen anyway because they are not touch friendly and also a battery drainer. For now office is fine for me. Because that's what i use most of the time on my laptop.

Rahasya, you are wrong.
Surface comes in two flavors
RT and Pro
- RT is stripped down version of Windows 8 Pro
- Pro is the full version of Windows 8
And surface is available on both flavors.
Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro has Intel Processor than ARM on RT.
Check their site out, microsoft is selling it online.
That Surface Pro is super ultrabook, you can say for now :D
Surface for Windows 8 Pro tablet
- Processor: Intel Core i5 (Ivy Bridge)
- Weight: 903 grams
- Thickness: 13.5 millimeters
- Display: 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD (1080p) capacitive touchpanel
- Battery: 42Wh
- I/O: microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, 2x2 MIMO antennae
- Software: Windows 8 Pro
- Accessories: Touch Cover, Type Cover, VaporMg Case & Stand, Pen with Palm Block
- Capacity: 64GB / 128GB
Surface for Windows RT tablet
- Processor: NVIDIA Tegra-based ARM chip
- Weight: 676 grams
- Thickness: 9.3 millimeters
- Display: 10.6-inch ClearType HD capacitive touchpanel
- Battery: 31.5Wh
- I/O: microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 2x2 MIMO antennae
- Software: Windows RT + Office Home & Student 2013 RT
- Accessories: Touch Cover, Type Cover, VaporMg Case & Stand
- Capacity: 32GB / 64GB

@BT...only if you had read my previous comment you would have known that I never said there were not two version's of window8. Surface pro runs on full fledged window8 operating system but its expensive. I even said that I would buy surface pro for $500 but not surface. I was specifically talking about trimmed down version of window which is known as Window RT.
@:-)
I agree with you that when Iphone and Ipad first came out there were not many apps and I do expect window RT to have more apps but for now I wont pay $500 for something which is a glorified webbrowser with office. Its good that if you use office all the time but I would wait till mircsoft boast large number of apps before I consider one for myself at that price.

oh okay..
but I doubt ultrabooks being available at $500 range.
dunno how much they are going to tag it though.
Surface Pro is really enticing though.
