Dear all,I had recently started on taking my clicks [again] after I bought myself a DSLR. I am not a pro, just an amateur who knows a just a basic [or even less] of photographies and takes his toll on whatever knowledge he had gained!! Once long time ago I had started a thread contributing to the beautiful pictures from Nepal for which there were numerous contributers and some of them even professionals. As of now I remember them as Bhanja, I_Nepali, Khaobadi, Aloneguy77 who had some love for this. I hope and think there are still number of us among our community who wants to learn and share the things or two about photography! Here is to share the first one from my side!

Oh, 18-135 is quite as sweet performer and it gives you good range too. Although D80 is quite a good cam it is very limited for my purposes as it has only 3fps so if I want to shoot in bursts I have to choose jpg only which is okay but I prefer RAW. For photographing birds and wildlife having good fps is really vital. Well if i can save up enough i might head for D300. Anyway have fun taking pics and let me know your flickr address if you have one. Cheers.

I am thinking of buying SRL. I too have some interest in photography but I have no idea regarding the techno portion. I just use my attraction towards object to size the angle. Can you guys please suggest me of a good SLR camera along with their tentative price? Thanks

@Narayangarh before buying dslr you should first realize what kind of pictures you want to take. There are two major brands that make DSLRs, Nikon and Canon. Each of them have their own strong points and weak points. One most important thing to understand before you buy into DSLR is that the lens is THE most important part. They will literally last you decades and play fundamental roles in producing quality images. I will just suggest you the main areas of photography. 1. Landscapes: They typically require wide angle lenses, at the moment Nikon is most suited system with excellent lenses such as 14-24 mm and 24-70 mm.. 2. Action Photography: They require very wide angles lenses like 14 mm, again Nikon is the best system. 3. Macros: Nikon , although Tamron produces excellent lenses for all systems. 4. Portraits: Canon (They make excellent 85mm lenses for portraits) 5. Wildlife: It requires very long lenses like 500mm or 600mm. Both nikon and canon have excellent lenses for the purpose. But price wise its canon.I have a feeling the Nikon's price will also drop soon. First you should decide what kinda photography you want to do then decide what system you wanna buy. If your need is not specialized then most probably modern point and shoots will suffice you. Anyway the latest entry level cameras are, Nikon D60: $750 Canon 450D $900 both are max retail price so you can probably buy in discounted prices.

This is a nice thread indeed! Though I am not involved in taking photos myself, I am an avid admirer of good photographs, of nature, culture, history, etc. I have been following www.trekearth.com for several years now the link of which was given by someone in sajha. Its really a splendid website which has professional pics from all over world nearly obviating the need of travelling far away places to know the culture, religion, people, etc., the pics and notes there speak that vividly.
I had seen nice photography of Arnico, aloneguy27, i_nepali, _____ and others in sajha before and used to admire them immensely. Divdude's pics are awesome too!
Thanks Juggy for starting this thread. Is that last pic of London's eye?

Nope Mapey! It is somewhere near Louvre Museum at Paris! You can see the memorial with golden top at Place de la Concorde behind the wheel given by Egypt to France. I used some post processing (action scripts) on Photoshop CS2 found here. Why don't you also upload some of pics you take mapey broda! I am sure you have buncha picturecollections of gorgeous mademoiselles all around world!

Hehe! Jugs, I was also expecting it to be Paris because of the sculpture in the foreground. You have given really a fine touch to the pic.
I don't have picture collections of georgeous mademoiselles, rather I have a poor collection of mediocre pics taken from my below average cam which I am reluctant to put for public display! However I had posted some pics of St.Patrick's Day parade for the past two years, this year I will miss it.
