A man has three daughters. His friends want to know how many years old the daughters are. The man gives them a hint.

HINT #1
The product of their ages is 72.

The friends say this is not enough information so the man gives them a second hint.

HINT #2
The sum of their ages is equal to my house number.

The friends go out and look at his house number and tell the man that they still do not have enough information to determine the ages. The man admits that they need more clue and gives them a third hint.

HINT #3
The oldest of the girls likes strawbarry ice-cream.

How old are the three girls??

there are multiple answers: 12 3 2; 6 4 3; 18 2 2 and the list goes on

i think the real answer is that a MAN canNOT have daughters, only a woman can.

or else, tinkune bro lai k garum k garum bhayera yettikai aru lai chaatna khojya jasto chha.

actually only 3 hints will do.
all the permutations that give the product (72) give unique sum except for:
6*6*2 =14...(1)
and 8*3*3 = 14...(2)

since the friends say: the information about sum (house no.) is not enough, it means the answer must be one of those two(1) and (2) else he wouldn't need 3rd hint in the first place.

LooTeKuKuR  bro,

I think the 3rd Hint was meant to figure out that the oldest daughter is not one of the twins. Though, we still have the age difference by time when twins are born.

3rd Hint makes 8-3-3 the correct answer not 6-6-2.

I found out the answers only from the Strawberry hint.

Sum ma matra kina 6+6+2 =14  and  1+4 = 5 garne ni , multiplication ma ni tyahi garnu parcha

6 * 6* 2=72  and 7*2=14  and 1*4=4

sumitt,
what i meant was:
the first 3 hints given by tinkune is enough to solve this problem. we don't need to know there is a twin.

and here's why:

if you take all combinations of three digits whose product is 72, of all such combinations, only two has one sum (14): 6 6 2 and 8 3 3.

other produce unique sums:

(1*1*72) = 75 sum
(1*2*36)=39 sum
(1*3*24)=28 sum
(1*4*18)=23 sum
(1*6*12)=19 sum
(1*8*9)=18 sum

so on and so forth.

If the house no. was one of those unique sums; the first two hints would have sufficed. but since it was 14  (which has two possibilities), he needed the third hint.

Magnet puzzle

You are in a room with two rods. one iron and one magnet. however, you don't have anything metallic in the room. how would you check which one is magnet and which one is iron.  Of course you don't even have string to hang and check magnetic north south.

The magnet attracts, not the iron (Might be thinking is simpler terms, not a physicist I am.)

- Break the iron into pieces, they donot attract each order.

- Break the magnat into pieces, they attract each other.

Am I right?

Break the rods somehow and see if the broken parts attract.

No. all are wrong.  Answer

- We will be using the theory that maximum attraction of magnet is at pole.

Lets say A  is magnet and  B is iron rod. Follow these procedure....

1. Touch the middle part of A with end part of B. Since A is magnet and has very less attraction at the middle you can easily detach A and B.

2. Now touch middle part of B with one end of A.  This is the case of  touching iron rod (B) with pole of magnet (A). So the attraction will be greater and you need some force to detach it.
