Just relax , sit down and think.... and answer straight from your heart.... can we Nepalese detach ourselves from this Royality thing? Can we bring down this institution this easily? Can we treat them as a commoner?? Can we handover the fate of our country to these seasonal politicians...who are like mushrooms in Nepalese history?

The Point isn't we can or cannot live without monarchy!! We will be able to live without monarchy BUT you need to think , is it the monarchy that responsible for the condition of the country or the Selfish politician where their agenda had more priorities than developing nation. King is not as bad as politicians are trying to potray him! How can nepali vedas let the politicians again let off the hook and dance on thier tunes? How can politicians impose all the responsibilities that they had for the people and country to King? King may have been rich, is rich but his richness was not an obstacle for the development of Nepal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again we see , people so called party of people working for maoist agenda more than theirs. I don't see their will be any drastic change even if we remove king. These are same people ..same nepali veda janta ...same nepali gothala ..crooks politicians.. what happens after we remove the king is of grave concern. Will the leftist prevail more in Nepal. What direction would the country go.

Actually I didn't want to take part in this discussion, but after imi blatantly labled everyother Nepali except him and his "class" as "veda", I just couldn't be silent. This shows his thought, or the thought of his class. It is because of this thought that we had to fight so many struggles. These so called royalties and their DHUPAURE always think in this way, they don't consider Nepalese people as human. But tide is changing now and Nepalese people have risen and are ready for controlling their own destiny. A very cruel end is coming for Nepalese aristocracy and be thankful to Moriartys, as becuase of these Moriartys, they will be saved from guillotines. Second, lets suppose that Nepalese people (except some hundred including imi) are all "vedas". As you know, "vedas" are easy to convert. What are you doing? Lamenting in Sajha? Please organize a royalist party and start "royalizing" them again. uhi "veda"

NO TO KING. THEY SHOULD BE TURNED TO ORDINARY CITIZENS LIKE US ABD WALK ON OUR SHOES. I COULD LIVE UNDER BIRENDRA AS A CEREMONIAL KING; NOT UNDER THIS BUSINESS MAN AND A FAMILY KILLER.

Guatam B.. well i respect your sentiments.it wasn't my intention to offend you or anyother nepalese .What i see is we are moving from one autocratic system to another.A more dangerous one .Don't think this is people wining.People always lose.It is some selfish netas that are wining. This is a plot of netas to remove blame from their head to one head. But yes you are too blind to notice that and you are not alone !! This never ending battle of haves and havenot will continue as long as the this world exists. So , giving me big lectures on how poor is going to be rich won't cut it brother. Instead of revenge politics work on politics of unity. Making some one scape goats is just another political move and you just follow them dancing!!!

Well said ImI. Just few days ago, when Koirala said that King should be given a space in democracy, Prachanda responded saying no. How dare he say that??? He is a terrorist, period. Because SPA made deals with maoist to get back power from the King, now they have become slaves of Prachanda and can't go against what he says. Look how powerful the terrorisst have become. We point fingers at Lebonen government saying how could they not stand against Hezbollahs, but its the same situation with our Nepali government now. Look how Prachanda is pulling reins in Nepali politics. He is flown around th country in helicopter and the maoist victims are arrested for protest against him. If Prachanda can be included in mainstream politics, don't you think the king has the right to be included as well?? Besides, King is not the enemy, these opportunitist politicians and terrorist maobadis are. When will people understand that? Right now, the focus of the government is about deciding the fate of the King? Is that the real issue here? Is that the real problem of Nepal? The King??

Gautam B, My desire to be a spectator in this discussion was also robbed when you accused the supports of monarchy in Nepal as "dhupaures." I do NOT agree with ImI and am not here to defend him. I am a supporter of Monarchy because I believe in it and NOT because I see the fault in other systems, its rather I fail to recognize the benefit in those systems in Nepal. Having a choice is a great thing, but it is not so great when you dont know what you are choosing. Monarchy is not about Gyanendra or Paras. They might be the most hated people to have ever/will ever rule Nepal, but let me hone this idea that we came to this through 200 years of institution. Can anyone promise an institution that will come close to that? I have more reasons to like the idea of Monarchy in Nepal, but for now I will just leave you all with its worth because of heritage.

It is futile to argue whether the King is good or bad unless people approach the topic with an open mind and there haven't been too many examples of such a thing on this thread or in Sajha in the recent past. Plus, this is one issue where people have deeply held convictions and moral persuasion doesn't often work to change people's minds so even if we did have a spirited discussion about the subject, I doubt much will come out of it. The trend, so far, certainly seems to be pointing to the elimination of the Monarchy. If the King can buck that trend, good for him, otherwise the future of the monarchy, in my opinion, looks pretty bleak at this time.

To me, social disparity is the major problem in nepal. until and unless a "dalit" in our socirty does not have his share of the equitable society, literally nothing's gonna happen. the political changes viz 2007, 2046, 2063 et. al. are worth NOTHING unless we come up with a system which guarantees a just society for nepal. the social structure of nepal is pyramidical. its a triangle in 2 dimension. Monarchy is situated at the apex and it IS the greatest and the strongest representation of the social discrimination that we have in our society. Royalists and armies (loyal to king) comes next which support the apex directly. They, in turn, have other supporters which are bases for their own support. We need to dismantle the pyramid and make a single line structure with "zero" altitude. THAT will ensure a just society-an equitable one. To destroy this triangle, we have to follow the top down approach meaning we need to get rid of the apex first of all. The base right next to the apex will come next, so on and so forth. Once you understand this structure, you will come to know about "why we MUST get rid of the 250 years old institution". LooTe

how about bottom up approach??? the reason is people in bottom are corrupted so much that people on top even though they want change .the change cannot happen. simplest example whats going on now in nepal: Look at the low level maoist cadres ..they don't know which bird is demoracy..now they feel like doing whatever they like because they have power of gun or whatever..power is bad..though the top level moaist says one thing they won't do it..which tells me what???? tells me change means nothing!!!!

The problem of Nepal is its feudal system. We need to get rid of this. And monarchy is the root of this feudal system.

ImI, the bottom up approach WON"T work. see, although you may debate that bases are where the roots are... the thing with this pyramidis opposite. its root is at the apex. how can you assure to get rid of the tree if you ONLY concentrate at cutting off the branches while you leave its roots intact??...it will grow its branches over time and the tree will remain as it is. The social injustice is because of the support which the tree is getting from its root. hence the need for top down approach One more thing. Don't bring maoists or other forces into discussion, when the major problem is with the monarchy. We don't need a feudal system be it from monarchy or perhaps from maoists. But the social rebuild that we are craving for, will possibly start if the root (monarchy) is eliminated. THAT will just be a start to the rebuilding process. We need a single line social structure with zero altitude. LooTe

I dont see any problem with ceremonial king. loote from your statement it is clear that you are the supporter of terrorism. for me prachanda has no right to speak about monarchy or anythin else unless they come in power by fair election which i doubt they will. I saw in nepalnes how maoist victims are being beaten brutally by police and those culprits and murderes are moving freely in helicopter and talking like intellectuals. prachanda should stand in the tribunal court and if their is justice the verdict will be nothing less than a death sentence .

Hey nepalmasaantihos, You were not quite clear about the king going to doors of Janta and getting elected. How do you suggest the King ask for their vote, like maobadis who put the gun on their head and demand for it or like these netas who do 'jyu jyu' before vote and turn their back after being elected?

nari, Ok then, King can go straighly not like maobadis or not even like SPAs. He can have his own way of going. It is the work of you guyz who support king to figure out the way... Let him go straightly and not turn back after election. If he does in this way, your king will be very popular...wish u good luck.

THE KING HAD TRIED TO CORRECT MANY WRONGS IN NEPAL DURING HIS 14 MO. REGEIME. FOR INSTANCE THE OPEN BRIBARY SYSTEM IN CHAR KHAL ADDA HAS CEASED TO EXIST. NOW IT'S OPEN AGAIN. Why do people point at the King? He is not responsible for any major collapse of any structure in the country... and look at Girija who ruled for most of the 14 yrs of democracy, is responsible for this state of the country and yet is respected and popular. Amazing folks - do u kow who is responsible for the topsy turvy Nepal today?? INDIA. INDIA has worked for this state of Nepal. The MAOS are their product. THEY WERE FED AND NOURISHED BY INDIA TO TOPPLE MONARCHY BECAUSE INDIA KNOWS ONCE MONARCHY IS WEAKENED AND GONE THEN THEY CAN HAVE A SAY IN EVERYTHING IN NEPAL. The MAO leaders were staying in NOIDA with full security throughout the 8 out of 10 yrs of their insurgency.
